Death by Stoning : This Sickening Punishment is Legal

Did you know that stoning as a method of capital punishment is still being carried out by many countries in the Middle East and North Africa?
Stoning is a method of capital punishment whereby a group throws stones at a person until that person dies.

In Islam we call this method of execution as rajm. Stoning is done mainly for women guilty of adultery (zina) and for men guilty of homosexuality.
These are the countries which still practice this method of execution.
Many people from Europe inform that this is an ancient method of execution and it is not carried out nowadays. However you'll be shocked to hear that it has been carried out in years as recent in 2014 in many North African and Middle Eastern countries. Notable cases include the stoning of Soraya Manutchehri, Du’a Khalil Aswad, Aisha Ibrahim Duhulow, Farzana Parveen Iqbal and many more.
But here is the main gist of my blog. Stoning is legal and regulated in Iran. The constitution of Iran has articles which clearly define how the sentence of stoning should be carried out by the authorities.
The 2008 version of the Islamic Penal Code of Iran detailed how stoning punishments are to be carried out for adultery, and even hints in some contexts that the punishment may allow for its victims to avoid death. And these laws will be very shocking for you.
Article 102 – An adulterous man shall be buried in a ditch up to near his waist and an adulterous woman up to near her chest and then stoned to death.
Article 103 – In case the person sentenced to stoning escapes the ditch in which they are buried, then if the adultery is proven by testimony then they will be returned for the punishment but if it is proven by their own confession then they will not be returned.
Article 104 – The size of the stone used in stoning shall not be too large to kill the convict by one or two throws and at the same time shall not be too small to be called a stone.
I was flabbergasted after I read the Article 104.
I guess many people never knew about Article 104 of that country. My main purpose of writing this blog is to make you aware that such hideous laws still exist in some countries of the world nowadays.
