Mansa Musa:
The Emperor of Mali was one of, if not the most wealthy person in History.
The Mali Empire was incredibly wealthy from the salt trade, ability to traverse the Sahara, and the gold reserves from its territory in West Africa. The prosperity of the Empire gave Mansa Musa the vast amounts of Wealth matched by a few.
When he made his pilgrimage to Mecca, he brought the supplies, wealth, and 60,000 companions, each carrying a pound of Gold to show the wealth of his empire to the world. During this trip, he had donated so much gold around his path that it devalued gold itself!
His wealth measured today would be worth $400 BILLION.
For reference, John Rockefeller would be worth $340 Billion.
