If life is a race than who is winning?

I am like a horse with blinkers. One day, I remove the blinkers and look around and see -- am I running with the other..…? ..Oh no, I am not even running that race, I am on a different track altogether.

And, it does make sense. We are all here to survive. Let’s just swim and try to keep ourselves afloat.

There’s no way you are going to win because there’s no race in the first place.

Bill Gates for his money?

Brad Pitt for his fame and good looks?

Stephen Hawking for his intelligence?

None.

Any moment can be last for them and their genetic descendants. Their genetic bloodlines could be tarnished by one tsunami, earthquake or conspiracy.

You are already a winner at life.

You exist because there was an unbroken chain of reproduction from the very first life-form to your parents and finally to you.

They survived it all.

They were lucky to have all the ‘right’ genetic mutations and evolutionary adaptations to survive changing times.

[ A lot of people didn’t and their descendants doesn’t exist around us anymore! ]

Just because the neighborhood guy scores more than you in school test or some long forgotten friend is a millionaire now, doesn’t make them a winner in life.

The millionaire could very well end his life drunk driving and dying in a crash before he even gets married, while you enjoy a content life with your kids and wife.

It could also be the other way round.

And, there’s no Karma. No grand plan for you or your millionaire friend.

All sorts of things happen to all sorts of people.

Life is not a race.

If you have survived this day to read this, you have done well for yourself.Let’s all just swim.

Let’s struggle a little to see the next sunrise, and be a little thankful that we got to see today’s sunset.
