“In a recent interview, Wozniak also said that he does not believe that there will be any big tech company or breakthrough in India similar to Google, Facebook or Apple. According to Woz India has just Infosys as an example of the big tech company and even that is not innovative. He does not expect Infosys to be in the league of global tech giants anytime soon.

When asked to comment on tech innovation in India by the Economic Times, Wozniak said, "I am not an anthropologist and I don't know the culture of India well enough. I don't see those big advances in tech companies. What is the biggest tech company here, Infosys maybe? I just don't see that sort of thing coming out of Infosys and I have done keynotes for them three times."

He pointed out that Indians lack creativity and that people in India aren't encouraged to pursue creative careers. "The culture here is one of success based upon academic excellence, studying, learning, practicing and having a good job and a great life”. For upper India, not the lower. I see two Indias. That's a lot like Singapore study, study, work hard and you get an MBA, you will have a Mercedes but where is the creativity? The creativity gets left out when your behavior is too predictable and structured, everyone is similar. Look at a small country like New Zealand, the writers, singers, athletes, singers, athletes, it's a whole different world," said Wozniak. “

Whatever he said is 100% true but we Indians are not able to understand the situation .

What is the use of such education which is based on rote learning , all Indians just think purpose of education is getting a good job and huge amounts of money BUT purpose of education should be uplifting ourselves , learning and applying that to create new things and ultimately making us as a good human being rather than a money boggling machine .

When I asked 1st class students what they want to become I got all sorts of answers ranging from scientist to pilot , all of them had different answers .

When the same question was asked to class 12th students 8 out of 10 said prestigious college and then a good job , when asked what is good job all the 8 said better the salary better the job .

Wozniak is criticizing our education system and not the Indians .

The comments insisted my mind to include these two cases too so that people are able to understand the cause better .

Since he devotes so much time to India, does he feel that there are any specific factors holding the country back? "Most trends are positive, but my biggest disappointment when it comes to India is the education system. It should be far better. Q: What do you think are the reasons and results of more and more people being oriented towards the applied subjects rather than pure sciences?

A: There are two things in life: Joy and Money. If you feel the true joy in something then money becomes insignificant to you. But if you can’t find that joy then money becomes everything to you! The problem with our system is that Science is not presented in a way so that a student can really feel the joy in it. So people try to run after money. They forget their significance as a human and try to feel safe by becoming a tiny part of a giant machine. Almost every student after the JEE examination tries to figure out which combination of an IIT and a branch can give him the best job using the previous records. I find this practice extremely mechanical. I find a loss of human spirit in this whole story. If it is a particular branch of a particular IIT that is going to give you something significant then what is your own endowment as a human?

Britishers created an education system so that they could get employees for their expanding industries (majorly for clerk job) and that education system was directly inherited even after Independence .
