The most expensive house in the world is called Antilia and is owned by Mukesh Ambani who is chairman of Reliance Industries in South Mumbai, India. It cost Mukesh around $2 billion dollars to build it, but for someone with a net worth of $22 billion dollars this cost made barely a dent on his wallet. This home has 27 floors of these 6 are compressed of a subterranean car park, one contains a large gym, 4 floor have nice open air gardens, 1 floor has a giant cinema, 6 floors are residential areas for guests and family while the last 3 floors are for maintenance purposes. Nearly 600 staff work hard to keep the house running smoothly and Antilia is also very secure built to withstand magnitude 8 earthquakes and powerful explosions.
Waverly Hills Sanitorium is a closed sanitorium located in Jefferson County, Kentucky and opened in 1910 to accommodate tuberculosis patients. Tuberculosis had a very high death rate until better treatment was available and about 64,000 people are estimated to have died inside Waverly Hills Sanitorium. Today the sanitorium is said to be haunted by the ghosts of deceased patients including the ghost of a young boy named Timmy who likes playing with toy balls given to him by visitors. The sanitorium disposed of corpses via an underground tunnel leading to a nearby train station and you wouldn't want to be around when a body was delivered.
Burje Khalifa is a megatall skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and with a height of 829 meters it is the worlds tallest building. It was built over a period of 5 years between 2004 and 2009 at a cost of 1.5 billion dollars and is a popular place for base jumping both authorised and unauthorised. Burje Khalifa is so tall that its weight is equivalent to 100,000 Elephants or the total amount of aluminium used to build 5 A380 aircrafts and took over 110,000 tons of concrete, 55,000 tons of Steel rebar and 22 million man hours to complete.
Buckingham palace in London, England is home to Queen Elizabeth II and an army of patrolling guards usually keep intruders away. The palace is 108 meters long by 24 meters tall and contains 775 rooms including 19 state rooms, 92 offices, 78 bathrooms, 188 stuff bedrooms and 52 royal and guest bedrooms. Despite the security several people have broken into the palace including Michael Fagan who did it twice. During his second visit to the palace Fagan entered the Queens bedroom and and startled her awake, fortunately her Majesty lured him into the pantry with a promise of cigarettes and alcohol until police arrested him. At the time there was no special law against breaking into Buckingham palace beyond normal trespassing and Michael Fagan was released without charge.
