Do you know this ?

So here are some interesting things that I believe you should know:
  • Hippos can sleep underwater using a reflex that allows them to bob up, take a breath, and sink back down without waking up.
  • After only 73 years of separation, the Korean language spoken in the North and South have diverged so that 45% of North Korean defectors have trouble understanding South Koreans and 1% can't understand South Koreans at all
  • Grand Theft Auto V cost $265 million to make -- the largest budget of any video game at that time -- but turned around and made $1 billion in its first 72 hours. (New addition : Currently GTA V has earned a total revenue of $6 billion, the highest ever for any movie or game in the world.)
  • When pimps get arrested, their cash can legally be confiscated but not their jewelry. This is why pimps wear lots of jewelry so that they can "re-pawn" it for bail money. (still think that this isn’t true…unbelievable!)
  • A riddle from 1688 goes. "If a man born blind can feel the differences between shapes such as spheres and cubes, could he, if given the ability, distinguish those objects by sight alone?" In 2003 the riddle was solved when five people had their sight restored though surgery. They could not.
  • Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin, but never tried to make an antibiotic out of it. It was not until a decade later that a man named Howard Florey found Fleming's little-known paper and realized the mold's potential. Florey's work is estimated to have saved up to 200,000,000 lives.
  • President Harry S. Truman was so poor after his presidency that Congress had to enact a law to give him a pension. President Herbert Hoover the only other living ex-president took the pension as well, despite his wealth, to avoid embarrassing Truman.
  • In May 2016, in order to show the absurdities of software EULAs, the Norwegian Consumer Council did a live, word-by-word, non-stop reading of all of Apples and 3rd party EULAs on an "average" iPhone. It took them over 32 hours.
  • The wife of George Lucas, Marcia Lucas, won an Oscar in 1977 for Best Film Editing in Star Wars. To date, George Lucas has won zero Oscars.
  • Bill Gates has given away over 28 billion dollars since 2007 resulting in an estimated 6 million+ lives saved.
  • There’s a type of honey called "mad honey," which causes hallucinations. Honey hunters in Nepal make dangerous vertical climbs to harvest it since it sells for $60-80 a pound.
  • CIA once "kidnapped" a Soviet spacecraft overnight, took it apart, studied it, reassembled it, & sent it back without the Soviets realizing.
  • Vince Coleman, a railway dispatcher, sacrificed his life in order to warn an incoming train of an imminent explosion. His telegraph said "Hold up the train. Ammunition ship afire in harbor making for Pier 6 and will explode. Guess this will be my last message. Good-bye boys." He saved 300 lives.
  • The city of London still pays rent to the Queen on land it leased in 1211.Nobody even knows where the land is located anymore. But over the past centuries, the city has paid the same flat rate: a knife, an axe, six oversized horseshoes, and 61 nails.
